4 Awesome Reasons To Start A Blog Today!

Want to start a blog? This blog post has 4 reasons you should start a blog today!

Looking for reasons to start a blog? Some of you may be on the fence deciding whether you should start your own blog. I’m here to lay out the cold hard facts on why you should start blogging as a side hustle.

The fact you’re reading this means you have dreams of earning a second income. Maybe you dream of quitting your job and becoming a full time blogger.

Those dreams are not out of each.

I’m a full time blogger and most of the time you’ll find me working from my iPhone. Do you think I’m some sort of a rare breed of human or something? Nope, I’m as average as can be. There is nothing particularly special about me. Heck, I’ve never even had a real job before!

What I do possess is an unbelievable amount of motivation. My drive, my urge and my passion is making money by blogging and helping others make money too. This is my passion and absolutely nothing is going to get in the way of me reaching my goals.

Maybe you think you’re not special. Maybe you think you’re not good enough. Maybe you don’t know what to blog about. Maybe you think you have nothing interesting to say.

Well I have zero qualifications. I have zero college education. I have zero training. If I can do it, so can you!

Do you share the same motivation to make money? If so, you have what it takes to become a successful blogger.

Still not sure why to start a blog? Let me give you 4 reasons to start a blog today!

You Will Have Control Of Your Life

Reasons to start a blog: Blogging gives you control of your life.

I personally have never held a real job before. But I see the struggles others face being shackled to their day jobs. There is a lack of control that happens when you work for someone else.

You take orders from your boss. I take orders from no one.

Because of my personality, I would not last ever being told what to do. Because of how I am, I’d see it as degrading to follow orders. Blogging gives me the freedom to answer to no one but myself.

You work for a flat rate. My income is limitless.

You work for a flat hourly fee so your boss can reap the rewards and make a healthy profit. Me? My income has no limits. I can (and will) earn as much as I want. How much money am I going to make next month? I’ll decide that based on how hard I work. I love being able to get out what you put in. I love having the chance of a blog post going viral and I wake up to hundreds of dollars in my account.

You make money when you work. I make money while I sleep.

If you get sick, you don’t get paid. I, on the other hand, might have my best week (income -wise) while I am stuck at home with the flu.

You work Monday – Friday, 9-5. I work whenever I feel like it.

Blogging gives me the freedom to work whenever I want, wherever I want. I’ve actually been at the beach under an umbrella working on my phone.

You have to ask your boss for a day off. I can do anything I want, anytime I want.

You miss birthday parties. You will miss your kids’ sporting events or concerts. You can’t go out late at night. You can’t go on vacation at the drop of a hat. In other words, you miss out on life itself. Me? I can get up and walk away any time I want and nobody’s going to do a thing.

It’s Cheap (Real Cheap) To Start A Blog

Reason to start a blog: It's practically free to start a blog.

Compared to the costs of starting your own brick and mortar business, starting a blog is cheap.

I mean really cheap. I’m serious, it’s so cheap. We’re talking the difference between $50,000 and like 5 bucks a month!

Costs to start a blog

Here are the sample costs to start a blog:

  • Domain name: $10 per year
  • Hosting: $3 per month
  • WordPress: free
  • Theme for your blog: free

Oh and to be clear, if you choose to use Bluehost your costs are even cheaper because Bluehost will give you a free domain name.

There’s no other business in the world that can go toe-to-toe with blogging as far as cost goes.  Plus, there’s so many free blogging tools out there too.

Other optional blogging costs

Now there are other costs to blogging, but they are all optional. For example, here are some of the things I have paid for in order to take my blog(s) to the next level.

These other expenses are entirely optional and I wouldn’t recommend them for a brand new blogger. I do however recommend visiting the links above to familiarize yourself with the tools available so you can see which ones you’ll want when your blog grows.

You should treat your blog like a real business

Why should you treat your new blog like a real business? Because it is a business. What’s your goal blogging? It’s to make money. So if you want to make money, you need to invest both your time and some money.

One of the most common questions I get is: can I start blogging for free? Does it require any investment? It’s as if people are unwilling to spend a dime on blogging. It never ceases to amaze me how people insist that it require NO investment. People have been trained to get everything for free online, so of course they want to start a blog for free too.

While it is possible to start a blog for free (using for example), it is not recommended. It is so unprofessional to not have your own domain name. By using a free blogging platform, your blog will never get to its full potential.

You Can Make A Difference In The World

Reasons to start a blog: helping others through blogging.

One of the best reasons to start a blog is because of the impact you can have in the lives of others.

I love to blog because I love to make money. But if you ask me what my true passion is, it’s helping others make money blogging. There is no feeling better in the world than helping someone make extra money.

You never know the personal challenges that someone is facing. I never ask, but I can only imagine some people are going through a difficult time financially and when I hear of a success story, it makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside.

What is your passion? Follow it and you can make a difference in the lives of many people.

Imagine you start a fitness / weight loss blog, you can help people feel better about themselves, get healthier and possibly even save someone’s life.

Regardless of what blog niche you choose, you will be helping others learn something new.

You Really Can Make Money Blogging

Reasons to start a blog: You can make money blogging.

A reason I enjoy blogging is because it’s possible to make only $1,000 a month all the way up to $100,000 per month blogging! There definitely is money in blogging. There is no limit and there are no qualifications to get started.

Here are some bloggers who are really making a killing blogging! They are my inspiration.

Melyssa Griffin $283,680 per month (last income report was December 2016)

Michelle Schroeder-Gardner $113,235 per month (as of July 2018)

Sarah Titus $474,653 per month (as of July 2018)

Pat Flynn $127,906.10 per month (last income report was December 2017)

John Lee Dumas $125,701 per month (as of July 2018)

Heather Delaney Reese $238,027.82 per month (as of July 2018)

Are you motivated yet? Imagine if you made just 1% of what they make per month. Now imagine if you made 10% of what they make. They are #blogginggoals for sure.

You don’t need any more reasons to start a blog, just get out there and do it!

  • Hey Edwin,

It’s really easy to start a blog but consistency is hardest part of being blogger because you don’t feel motivated every day, specially if you are part-time blogger.

I am a part-time blogger and I enjoy blogging. It’s truly a good source of second income. You just need to be consistent and work hard to earn extra income.

    • Edwin says:

Absolutely agree with you, Yogesh! To stay consistent, I recommend setting up a content calendar and writing content in advance. That way, a few weeks of downtime won’t leave your blog looking abandoned.
